Lucas Museum of Narrative Art to Welcome and Celebrate Its South LA Neighbors with Free Admission for 90037 Residents
Community Members Will Also Be Invited to a Special Preview Day at the Museum Before Its Grand Opening on September 22
As the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art prepares for its grand opening on September 22, it has announced programs and events specially designed to welcome its immediate community in South Los Angeles. Neighborhood residents can experience the museum for free with the new LM37 pass, exclusively available to those who live in the Museum’s 90037 zip code. Local residents and community members will also be among the first to visit the Lucas Museum at a special Community Preview Day on Sunday, September 13.
“From the very beginning, George Lucas and Mellody Hobson envisioned a museum where everyone feels welcome and sees it as their own,” said Tracey Bates, CEO of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. “Storytelling has the power to bring people together and create a sense of community. Through LM37, we are inviting our South Los Angeles neighbors to make the museum part of their lives and take their own path of discovery through the art, programs, and experiences that will help shape this new cultural hub for Los Angeles.”
A dedicated allotment of tickets for LM37 pass holders will be set aside for the opening of the Lucas Museum and beyond. Residents of the 90037 zip code interested in registering for an LM37 pass are encouraged to sign up at lucasmuseum.org/lm37 to be notified when the program launches in August. LM37 pass holders will be able to reserve free tickets for themselves plus one guest.
On September 13, a special Community Preview Day will welcome community partners, local business owners, and civic leaders giving them an advance look at the Museum’s 100,000 square feet of exhibitions, gardens designed by Mia Lehrer and Studio-MLA, and iconic building designed by Ma Yansong of MAD. Tickets to the Sept. 13 preview will be distributed through community partners and local government officials, as well as directly to registered LM37 passholders.
